The Fermi Paradox
The soothing answer to the fermi paradox
is that we are alone
because life is rare; we're but a pale blue dot
floating through time
and space, emptying our pockets of coins
before the spin cycle.
so what if that's sad? at least there's nothing
worse than us existing
out there. we've seen other answers pop up:
a mass extinction
event, or an alient species is still quite behind
on the innovation curve,
or maybe life is set on destroying itself entirely
and we have not quite
ruined all the remaining bits, awaiting crumble.
but the scariest idea?
perhaps life seeks to destroy others,
they just haven't found us
yet. if i told you why,
you'd go mad.
